BLOG # 1
Hi guys! I am very new to puppetry and do not know much about it at all, which is part of the reason why I decided to take this class, to get more acquainted with it because it is something I find very interesting and different, but just have never taken the time to look into. I have not seen many performances but I do remember one from my high schools diversity days that interested me. At first I wasn't really all that thrilled to see a puppet show to be honest. I just kind of thought puppets was for kids, and it would not apply to me. But once it started, it actually really caught my attention. There was loud music that caught my attention and than slowly one my one the puppets started crawling out onto the stage. I was in the back of the audience, so at first, I couldn't even tell that they were puppets I thought that they were real people! Once I realized that they were puppets I thought that was so crazy. The way that the puppet masters made them move with the same movements of human beings really interested me. It put it in a new perspective for me that I have never thought of or seen before. It really seemed like they were alive. As the puppet show progressed, it was probably only a matter of 5 minutes or so, it became more and more life like. They did a little dance with the puppets which was very cool. I also really liked the outfits that the puppets were wearing. There were just a few puppets but they all had on very bright colored outfits that really made them seem to stand out. I am looking forward to this upcoming semester and learning a lot more about puppetry :)
